Behind the scenes
I am Judith Kampen and I am currently a fourth year student in Enschede! I am the secretary of the Plaatselijke Kamer van Verenigingen Fact and active member of A.S.V. Taste. I have just completed my Bachelor's degree in Creative Technology and in September I will start with the Master Human Computer Interaction and Design at the University of Twente.

In the evenings I can often be found in specialty beer cafe de Beiaard where I enjoy working a lot.
Feeling at home in Enschede
I moved to Enschede four years ago after trying to study at a film school in Brussels. I missed the opportunity for a real student life there and I remembered about the open days that Enschede felt like home. After all, I am from Friesland, so really big cities do not appeal to me. During the Kick-In I ended up in a do-group of one of the student associations. I had no intention of joining a student association at all, but when I saw how close friendships could develop, I became very curious. After the Kick-In I decided to become a member of A.S.V. Taste and now I have found my yearclub DJC Riskant and sorority Leone Rode, both with great friends.
Becoming an active member of student life
Because I was able to get so many beautiful things from my membership of the association- from pub evenings, galas, drinks, and friends for life (yes, truly) - I wanted to dedicate myself to the associations to introduce prospective and current students to Enschede’s student life and to hopefully put Enschede on the map even more as a student city. In addition, I noticed that I also liked to occasionally knock on the door of the other associations, for example drinking a ‘raketje’ at AEGEE-Enschede. That is why I decided to do a board year at the Plaatselijke Kamer van Verenigingen Fact, the umbrella organization of the four student associations that are located in the Pakkerij; AEGEE-Enschede, A.S.V. Taste, C.S.V. Alpha, and DSCC/DJCR ‘Audentis et Virtutis’. That way I can dedicate myself to the four associations and student life here in Enschede.
The Plaatselijke Kamer van Verenigingen Fact represents the student associations towards, among others, the university, the municipality, and the National Chamber of Associations. Fact also coordinates joint activities of the associations, such as the Kick-In. We also look at how student life can be improved even further. In addition, we naturally want to show that it is valuable and fun to be a member of a student association. That is why we organize activities such as Enschedays to introduce students to the student life in Enschede. I myself hold the position of ab Actis (secretary) and I am responsible, among other things, for contact with the municipality and the organization of Enschedays. I was able to develop myself and expand my network by playing such an active role.
Advice to other students
I am someone who loves challenges and adventures, and fortunately I have found that in Enschede. I am grateful for what this city has brought me and I have really felt like a student here. I am richer in experiences that has made me who I am now. I have been able to develop myself here and I look forward to what the future will bring me. I would also like to advice everyone to take on challenges and become active somewhere in Enschede. Whether you become a member of a student association, sports association, culture association, or study association; find the best that suits you!
