AKI Art & Design is the smallest art academy of the Netherlands with an offer of three Bachelor degrees: Crossmedia Design, Fine Art and Moving Image. AKI is part of ArtEZ University of the Arts, but the academy values the autonomy as a small-scaled academy much. Education is designed on the workfloor.
At AKI Art & Design it is the believe that the gap between thinking, saying and doing should be as small as possible. Lecturers are just there to further your ambition, to develop your talents and to professionalize your competences, which could be with paint, ideas photography, film, concepts, design, clay, wood, or you name it.
There is a clear sense of structure, but AKI prefers to have the power of a small-scaled academy which is focused on individual development. It is, and should always be, about you. This means you either hate it – or you love it for life, that is a promise.
As a future student, it is possible to do an AKI tour. During the AKI tour you will receive a guided tour, meet AKI students and teachers, do a workshop and receive a presentation about the study programmes. AKI Design & Art is located in the cultural quarter of Enschede: Roombeek. In 2000, Roombeek was completely renovated after the fireworks explosion and now is the figurehead of architecture. AKI Art & Design is surrounded by museums and art institutions, a perfect location for creativity! The ArtEZ Conservatory are located in the city center.
